While I don't agree with prop 8, if it really did fail because a significant portion of voters couldn't figure out how to vote correctly, then I think Californians have noone to blame but themselves.

Yeah, I kinda agree with Neraid. It sucks that politicians twist words around to make it hard to understand but they do that ALL the time so it is up to the voter to be a little bit smart about things and read the stuff before they place their vote.

we had to decide if our oldest airport Tempelhof(the one from the berlin airbrige) should close
and to let it be open we had to vote NO
and not enought poeple voted so the airport who let west-berlin live is closed now

Proposition 8 was such a hate ridden law to be added to California, and I agree, it was also poorly written. I had to remind my Parents that by voting YES it meant that same sex marriages would be banned, and NO meant that it would be allowed. It also did not help that they tried to make the issue about on families and children, which was such a low blow
I voted NO and I still join groups and file petitions about repealing it. You'd think that with a state as liberal as California you would not have to face this sorts of discriminatory laws, but leave it to the lobbyists and politicians to twist everything
