1.Use the original logo.
2.Aldebaran as background. (it's not a problem to use alde as the background; however there is one thing I'd like to bring up to your concern that it's going to make the file bigger and take longer time to load the site)
3.Use the scrolls.
4.Site menu will be like this:

If you go more specific on each part, it would make thing much easier for me to design the site.
