Deadly Premonition - Opening theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV6chycloXQ

I love how Deadly Premonition emulates Twin Peaks even through its soundtrack /lv

That was awesome. I think I listened to it four times straight. Very well done. Here's some more good 8-bit renditions.

Final Fantasy VI - Devil's Lab
Final Fantasty V - Battle on the Big Bridge
Mega Man X - Storm Eagle
Chrono Trigger - Battle with Magus
Chrono Trigger - Undersea Palace
Final Fantasy IV - Final Battle It was listening to the regular version of this song on the soundtrack that got me geeked to first play FFIV, and it is still my favorite game in the series.

And I also want to throw in some Metal Saga. [grumble]We we no get more Metal Max games!!??[/grumble]

Wanted Person Battle Both the opening theme to the game and the song for most of your major boss songs. This song really got me pumped for a fight. And I also got to use tanks. That gets me pumped for a fight too. I like tanks.
Shopping Rock Any time you went into a town and there was a sale on at the shops, the regular town music got replaced with this song. Now this is how you let people know a sale's on. Also, sales meant half off everything, and since tanks are expensive to upgrade and maintain that's pretty damn awesome.
Collapse I wish I could remember where this song was used. I'm pretty sure it was in the battle with the main badguy's henchmen toward the end of the game, and if so I only heard it once and thats why I don't remember it I guess. There's also an extra dungeon where you can fight every boss in a row, so it could be from there, too. Either way, awesome song.
Last Battle Not technically the last battle, but it is the most important battle in the final sequence. The one after that you can lose and someone else will take care of business. The fight this song is to is the one that does the world saving, though.

Short, and simple this time.

In honor of the new comic, how about some Vampire Killer?

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse: This is probably my favorite version of the classic song. Anyone else have one they really like?

Man, I miss playing Dracula's Curse! I need to get a copy of that. As for music, Pie and I are very fond of:

C2 - Simons Quest Bloody Tears (Day Theme)

and of course the remake from the SNES classic
C4 - Super Castlevania Bloody Tears

Nice!

As I was saying on Twitter earlier, I love how much Super Castlevania IV music is basically the very definition of SNES music. You can pretty much hear everything that soundchip can do, and it's amazing. I don't know how else to explain it, but my reaction to when I was listening to SCIV's version of Vampire Killer was: "Man, that's pretty much as Super Nintendo as you can get."

Yeah, the whole soundtrack for SC4 and the game is just so amazing. I mean, god, SO GOOD.

I cannot agree with that enough. I'm already a fan of Castlevania music, but SC4 knocked it out of the park for me. I put it on par with Super Metroid in how it sets a mood. I always loved how the game really set that feeling of an isolated journey - countless horrors across the countryside (and under it) and no one to help you. Then of course, you finally get to the castle and they STILL have a bunch of good stuff to throw at you! I believe I've already posted some favorites on here (where I broke down my SNES favorites in a too-long post) but I'll throw 'em here again since we're on the topic.

Entrance
Chandeliers
Skull Temple
The Submerged City
Pillared Corridor

It was the first Castlevania (for me) to break away from mostly action music (awesome action music) and make a lot of music that sets a mood.

Yeah Alexx, the whole soundtrack is so good. I was re-listening to the whole set when I responding to Nesta to try and throw some more top picks in the mix...but hot damn. There is just so many freaking great ones and it really is hard to narrow down; the whole thing needs to be listened to and I would say playing the game is an absolute must.

The AVGN did a great 4-parter on the Castlevania series in 2009, and what he had to say about SC4 pretty accurately describes what's great about the game.

I'm playing Assassin's Creed 2 now and this little bit plays during the race side-missions.
