So, what did everyone think of their time in the beta? Living up to, falling short of or exceeding expectations?
Pie and I have been pretty stoked coming out of it; we spend a good chunk of time on Monday chatting about it with excitement. I think it scratched the itch that we've had for an MMO for a while. I love all the ways a character can be build with skills and traits. I know I ended up spending a lot of time researching my class (Mesmer) after I was done play testing. I was really excited having some concrete idea of what I was reading about on the wiki after the hands on experience.
I think one of the great things about the game is how cooperative it is and the content scaling is awesome! I went to the Charr starting area and was getting my butt handed to me soloing. Since your level is determined by geographical location, it means content never loses meaning. The idea of going to other starting zones to get skill points and knowing that it will be just as hard as when you were originally level 4 or whatever is really great. One thing that suprised me was to find out that loot tables were also scaled. In the Charr starting zone, I was getting level appropriate gear instead of just old gear and vendor trash.
Pie and I are anxiously awaiting the next beta and release! Having a group of nearly 20; a rather well-formed guild before the game is even released is really exciting too! Thanks for the fun this last weekend all, we'll be looking forward to more good times!
