Luc of True Wind: That seems kind of impossible. I feel like the moment you finish one section they would have updated or added to another. The place is huge!

If you get to go back sometime, another simpler museum is the Museum of Modern Art. Lots of famous artists' works on display. Most famous one in there has to be Starry Night. Just don't go to the top floor. It's too disturbing to describe what my Dad and I found up there...

Looks like you enjoyed yourself! The picnic in central park sounds like it was pretty damn awesome. Are those constellations painted on the ceiling at Grand Central Station? How neat!

Yeah but the constellations looked backwards. I haven't checked but I doubt that they would install the whole thing backwards.

Sorry. I have had a hell of a time catching up with stuff at work.

Ok here's pics from the Met.

So many pics of Egyptian stuff, so brace yourself.

Sphinxes
Inside joke here is that my D&D group found out that sphinx was a valid language choice, now they all know sphinx. And they wink a lot. After a few sessions (and a few more drinks), this morphed into the phrase, "wonxing the Sphonx."

More Egyptian stuff

Egyptian TARDIS

Parts of an actual Tomb from Egypt

We got tired of walking around after a bit, so we picked a spot next to this lion that we dubbed "Brion, the bro lion." He was a pretty chill lion.

BEARS IN THE FOOD COURT!!! RUNNN!!!

This is a picture that I believe best demonstrates my view of how the Chinese represent animals. They are either terrified, like so,
http://i.imgur.com/FfYCFh.jpg

or derpy, like Dion the derp lion here.
http://i.imgur.com/Xgsgbh.jpg
Dion is clearly a relative of Brion, but he lacks the social elegance of his cousin. Poor Dion.

For some reason, all of the really awesome Japanese shrine was very dark and made for some bad pictures. I tried anyway though so here you go.

Cool dude with a staff

Pretty flowers

Huge painting of awesomeness

I forget if this was in the India section or not but it is still cool looking.

Also, one of the staff members at the Met informed us that if we were having trouble figuring out if a statue of a female was Hindi or Chinese, the easiest way to tell was to check if it had large boobs. if it did, it was a Hindi statue. This caused a few immature giggles.

On to the hall of North American of Musical Instruments!

Contrabass Bassoon. I am 5'9" or 1.7525 m for size comparison.

Ornate Ocarinas. Sadly, none are magical.
http://i.imgur.com/yI7MRh.jpg

Some crazy looking brass horns.
http://i.imgur.com/puUF3h.jpg

The Met is so big that it has a building INSIDE of it.

This is a taxidermied deer that is covered in crystal. So cool

Two masks from the African Hall that we thought were cool.

http://i.imgur.com/CGYi5h.jpg

And finally, a cool statue of an archer caught in unfortunate lighting so that it's butt is the center of the picture.

Ok! One of the Great things about the Museum of Natural History is that it is really dark and cool looking, but one of the bad things about the Museum of Natural History is that it is very dark and pictures come out terrible. These are the last pictures that were any good. Anyway, here are the last pictures that were any good.

Before heading to the museum, we went on another little date. Found this beautiful little Italian with the best atmosphere. Just look at it!

Very romantic. =D

After that we walked a short way to the Museum and were greeted with these fantastic columns and a mighty statue of Teddy on a horse.

First stop was the Sea Creatures exhibit. I did not realize how truly creepy the ocean was until I visited that exhibit.

Giant Squid, about 40-50ft long
http://i.imgur.com/rZQBnh.jpg

Blue Whale, so large that I can't even tell you. You really need to see this one to truly comprehend how huge they are.
http://i.imgur.com/0xRI9h.jpg

Spider Crab, about a little more than 2ft across.
http://i.imgur.com/OQH5Bh.jpg

We wandered for a bit through various exhibits and snapped a few pictures that turned out well.

Mosquito scaled up by 1000x if I remember correctly.

A boat with a crazy monkey on the front.
http://i.imgur.com/OjY9Dh.jpg

Tortoise. Forgive the shine from the glass.
http://i.imgur.com/TSXV8h.jpg

Here be Dragons! From the far off lands called Komodo.
http://i.imgur.com/Kn5sEh.jpg

And then we found the dinosaurs. So many dinosaurs.

Triceratops
http://i.imgur.com/C2yUqh.jpg

Something. I don't know what it is but it was waving so I took a picture.
http://i.imgur.com/6hCiMh.jpg

Mastodon
http://i.imgur.com/e4c8Sh.jpg

The scariest fish you will ever see
http://i.imgur.com/5VOgUh.jpg

Pterodactyl-like creature
http://i.imgur.com/iog2nh.jpg

and the Lizard king himself, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
http://i.imgur.com/eFpxVh.jpg

The next day we were going to go into the city to wander around Manhattan and see a live improv group from the people who do 30 rock but it was not in the cards as the subway broke down and trapped us for several hours, allowing me to get the true New York Experience. Even that was fun. The trip was great and I have many more stories to tell and will fill in the thread with them as time allows.

That's so cool, I've always wanted to got to the Museum of Natural History, and yes the sea is a scary place but I love spider crabs

I do the impossible, like skiing through a revolving door.

Everytime I see the picture of the crab, all I think is it saying to me "I PINCH! I PINCH!" in a high pitch squeaky voice
