I spy a Chibi Totoro and a Tall-nut, but I wonder where that Trance Vibrator is.

Also, speaking of censoring games and whatnot, Saints Row IV was refused classification in Australia. At first I was dissapointed, because earlier this year and 18+ rating was introduced and I thought this was showing that nothing much has changed, but after eading why I understood that the game is kind of ridiculous to the point where I would find it repulsive.

“The game includes a weapon referred to by the Applicant as an “Alien Anal Probe”. The Applicant states that this weapon can be “shoved into enemy’s backsides”. The lower half of the weapon resembles a sword hilt and the upper part contains prong-like appendages which circle around what appears to be a large dildo which runs down the centre of the weapon. When using this weapon the player approaches a (clothed) victim from behind and thrusts the weapon between the victim’s legs and then lifts them off the ground before pulling a trigger which launches the victim into the air. After the probe has been implicitly inserted into the victim’s anus the area around their buttocks becomes pixelated highlighting that the aim of the weapon is to penetrate the victim’s anus. The weapon can be used during gameplay on enemy characters or civilians.

In the Board’s opinion, a weapon designed to penetrate the anus of enemy characters and civilians constitutes a visual depiction of implied sexual violence that is interactive and not justified by context and as such the game should be Refused Classification.”

I mean, really guys?

It's funny how long I spent looking for Rez. This was before I had ready access to the internet. Our friend Simon got a PS2 first and brought a demo disc with him to show it off. One of the games on there was Rez and I loved it immediately. I didn't come across a copy of the game until years later, which of course I ate up. My skills at Rez have diminished, but it was fun while I was playing the hell out of it.

Didn't know about the trance vibrator till much later.

I have both the american and japanese version of Rez (of course with vibrator) and even though I haven't used it the collector in me just had to have it lol. I mean, something like that is just too weird not to pass up.

On the note of Saint's Row though, the last one was great, and that alone sold me on the next one. It's unfortunate that the game was blocked in Australia because of one optional item but it is what it is. I'm just hoping the game can live up to the insanely ridiculously over-the-top plateau it set for itself.

While I will in no ways defend the anal probe, I can't say I'm repulsed or surprised about it. How else do you top dildo bat?


And as far as the blog post for this comic, I don't think it's fair to bring Sexual Repression into into a conversation about things that are being marketed at children. 4Kids doesn't translate anime for a adult audience and back when Rez came out, the "Video Games are for Kids" mentality was still in full effect.
